Tufaan

This poem is a lament on the effects of exploding human populations across the globe and the resultant degradation of natural environments everywhere. But the Islamic  faith regards this planet as only a temporary railway platform whose adherents will eventually leave to go to a more lasting and meaningful ”hereafter”. These people, while they see and disparage the pollution of land, sea and air which results from human activity, will continue to say their prayers 5 times a day and will not do anything about it, as ”God will take care of it”. There is some increasing environmental awareness in Islamic countries, but while individuals and NGOs are waking up to the need for action against desertification and pollution, people by and large remain uninformed and apathetic about the pressing problems posed by over-population and urbanisation. Tufaan is warning them about the storm that is raging all around them. This planet is not a temporary stop-over for another destination. It is the only habitable planet in the known universe.
