The scourge of fundamentalist religion finds expression through the militant organization of Boko Haram, who have used it to commit crimes of murder, kidnap and rape against innocent school girls in North-eastern Nigeria. As per Wikipedia, members of this organization have killed 20,000 people and displaced 2.3 million from their homes in recent times. This flies in the face of liberal Islam which created greatly diverse and thriving civilizations throughout history in the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa and the Indian Sub-continent. The majority of Muslims right across the Islamic world disown and reject this damnation. My poem here underscores the rejection of such mindless and murderous militant organisations which have hijacked religion for their own purposes.
