This poem is in praise of Amir Khusro (1253-1325 A.D.) who is one of the greatest geniuses who ever lived. He wrote poetry in Farsi as well as in many different languages of North India, including Brij Bhasha, Hindi, Proto-Urdu, Punjabi and Gujarati. Apart from his phenomenal input in poetry, he made seminal contributions to the development of North Indian classical music by a fusion of Indian classical with Middle Eastern music. He developed the tarana style of singing, as well as many other forms of vocal music.
He is reputed to have devised the first models of the present day Sitar and also as having developed the Qawwali into its present North Indian form. In addition, his name is also associated with the invention of the tabla which he achieved by dividing the Pakhawaj into two parts. He was at the forefront of the musical and poetical movements of North India during the 13th Century, and over 800 years his contributions in both fields have informed and inspired generations of poets and musicians. My nazm Amir Khusro in Urdu is a tribute to his great genius.

Beautifully written. One of the best tributes to the genius of Amir Khusrau.
Thank you for posting.
Mohsin.
An exquisite Accolade to Khusro, I read it over and over again and admired the sophisticated multitudes you have so delicately fused, History, Music, Sufism, Linguistics, Instruments and whatnot and yet the praise seems to bring out the best of Amir Khusro without burdening the reader.
